ABOUT JOHN:
First of all, John wants everyone to know that he has a beautiful daughter and is married to the most wonderful woman in the world! Now, on to MMA...
John started training in Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) in 2003. He was really just looking for a way to expend his energy, as he was getting into too many "extracurricular altercations". He found a Brazilian Jiu Jitsu gym and it did the trick by keeping him busy, motivated and exhausted. Once he started training there and hanging around this group of people, MMA was inevitable. He met the Wisniewski brothers who owned a MMA gym (Duneland Vale-Tudo), started training there and it just snowballed from that point on. He never really expected to fight outside of this hometown on smaller shows, but one thing led to another and now he's fighting professionally on high level shows, including the UFC. He's very competitive, athletic and he loves to fight, so it was just a matter of time (along with tons of hard work) before he found himself fighting at this level. John's participation on The Ultimate Fighter Season 6 has opened his eyes as to how hard he needs to train to compete at the highest levels of the sport. He's put a new emphasis on training and is currently working out at Gilbert Grappling in Country Club Hills Illinois and LA Boxing in Merrillville Indiana.
John has an Associates Degree in Computer Networking. He also has multiple technical certifications, including Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE), Citrix Certified Administrator (CCA), Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) and CompTIA Network+ and A+ certifications. He worked as a Senior Systems Engineer for about 10 years and a Supervisor of Enterprise Computing for about 2 years, but has decided to hang up his technical hat, for a full time career in MMA. He now trains full time, but always has his technical expertise to fall back on if necessary.
